Buona Sera Siena
Tonight the air was refreshing as the temperature was the coolest it has been since we arrived in Italy. Compared to the days of 36 degrees plus, we dipped down to a frigid 26 degrees this evening! Ha! With a breeze! Ah can we call that a windchill? It truly was an uplifting evening to say "Buona Sera Siena!"
The following photographs were taken in the contrada della Torre where this year's Palio winners were celebrating in the streets with an open air feast. Draped in their contrada flags and banners participants proudly wore their colours with pride. Drummers were tuning up their drums and the aroma in the street was absolutely delicious. A multi- sensory experience of smell, sight, taste and the "viva" felt in the air was energizing!
This final photo was taken by student, Joshua. An amazing photo of the social life shared by a group of men in animated conversation. What a wonderful way to end the evening.
