Parole e Pitture (Words & Pictures)

This entry will showcase the fusion of our subject areas and how well they compliment eachother. Although distinct in their own individual ways, DaVinci made a connection in stating that, " painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen." However different that we may be, we are also much the same. This following photograph displays it perfectly as we are rained in this evening and students are working on assignments. Juliana is painting her tondo and Joshua is wrapping up ideas of an essay. Below will showcase some of the artwork our students have been busy creating and excerpts from our english students. The trip in Italy is great so far. The cities I have visited are memorable for the museums housing world famous artworks, tombs of saints and famous artists and writers. Italy has outstanding churches, blazing temperatures and more importantly, gelato! The course is enjoyable too, especially with an Italian twist to it. Dante's Divine Comedy for example depicts his brilliant speculations of the afterlife in hell, purgatory and paradise with real people based on how they lived their lives. Italy is a great country to visit for many reasons, and I am enjoying it to its fullest, awaiting the finale in Rome! Written by Jason the gelato champion! Italy is so amazing! All of the beautiful places that we have been to are so beautiful. It was such a highlight when we went to the best gelato place in San Gimignano. I wish I could have had more than three scoops and to try all the different flavours. I am so happy that I am here! Written by Justin To quote Machiavelli, " the end will justify the means," we have grown close to people we do not know but we are now a family that we must not forget like our families back home. With these new beginnings and when this adventure ends it will be worth it. Thank you! Written by an amazing Canadian flag waving student who wanted to remain Anonymous (artists in order Lizzy, Rico, Nathalie, Magdalena, Elise, Lexie and Jasmine)
